Roxy’s Grilled Cheese

Roxy's Grilled Cheese TruckRoxy’s Grilled Cheese reigns as the big name in the Boston food truck circuit—even those who don’t regularly visit food trucks are familiar with the Roxy logo featuring a modern emo-esk Wendy mischievously peeking out from behind her grilled cheese.

Roxy’s Grilled Cheese has been featured on Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race and numerous other publications, so I was thrilled by the opportunity to finally review this food truck.

I decided to stick with ordering the standard grilled cheese, although Roxy’s offers a number of tasty upgrades such as the Green Muenster Melt, featuring muenster cheese, guacamole, and bacon, or the Mighty Rib Melt, loaded with braised ribs, caramelized onions, and fontina cheese.

Due to immense food truck fame, you’re bound to encounter a line at Roxy’s. Although I had to wait a bit for my grilled cheese, the folks at Roxy’s were friendly and the grilled cheese didn’t disappoint.

Roxy’s Grilled Cheese Review

The sandwich itself was all you can hope for in a grilled cheese – sharp cheddar cheese that leaves a bite on your tongue, toasty grilled bread moist with the right touch of grease, and thick slices of tomato. While I didn’t get a chance to try the truffle fries, I hear those are pretty delicious as well.

I recommend adding a dollop of sriracha sauce to up the spice level a bit. I’m no hot sauce lover, but the sriracha really gave the grilled cheese just the kick it needed.

A basic grilled cheese will set you back $5, which is fair enough.

  1. Looks like a real boring sandwich for the price, i could buy a loaf of bread, cheese and such and bring my own sandwiches to work for what they charge for 1 sandwich. People who love this must make 6 figures to be that lazy not to make their own, how hard is that?

    • The art of a great grilled cheese can be hard to perfect! But yes, I think Roxy’s more complicated sandwiches are the more impressive ones. I’ll post pics of the rib melt soon.

  2. I can see both sides of it. Yes, you can easily duplicate a similar style of sandwich at home with little effort, but this vendor has obviously garnered fame by doing it to perfection. My guess is they get a lot of repeat customers, which is a testament to the quality of their product.
