Boston Trucks Featured on Season 5 of Eat St!

A new season of Eat St. is premiering this Thursday, July 3rd at 8/7c. And we’re proud to say that our very own city of Boston is being featured this season!

I talked with James Cunningham, the host of Eat St, to hear a bit more about what to look forward to on season 5.

James Cunningham of Eat St!

Congratulations on season 5 of Eat St! What cities are we going to be seeing this season? Did any cities in particular surprise you?

Thank you! We’re very happy. This season was particularly amazing! After seeing hundreds of food trucks you would think we would run out, but they just keep getting more innovative and exciting!

This season we made our usual trips to Austin, Portland, Los Angeles and Orlando but we also found INCREDIBLE trucks in Columbus, Denver, Knoxville and LaFayette. The food truck revolution is EVERYWHERE!

We’re so excited that you got to visit Boston. What trucks show up during the Boston segment?

Boston was a huge treat for us! I love Boston. To begin with, too many great bars and eateries to count, but now some great food trucks, too! The trucks you’re going to see on Season Five of Eat St. are:

Mei Mei's Scallion Pancake Sandwich

  • The Fugu Truck with their “Korean Bulgogi Beef Roll ” with cucumber and pickled radish.

  • The Cod Squad truck rounded out our Boston street food experience with a Swordfish kebob! I mean, COME ON! Swordfish on the street..?! AMAZING stuff!

If you haven’t checked them out yet – RUN don’t WALK! Amazing chefs and incredible food.

What were a few of your favorite dishes from season 5?

That is always such a loaded question…It was ALL so good! The Boston dishes were exceptional but I could go on all day about the amazing stuff you’re going to see in Season 5. Some unique standouts were:

  • The green Falafel sandwich from the Taim Mobile in New York City.
  • The Onion ring tower that comes with Le Eiffel burger from the Mainely Burger truck in Portland, Maine.
  • The Biscuits and Groovy trailer in Austin, Texas had amazing biscuits with brown ale gravy, pork sausage ‘n jalapeño.
  • The gourmet crepes from the Planet of the Crepes truck in Tucson, Arizona were TDF (To die for!)
  • The Swede Dish Truck in Orlando, Florida served up the most amazing mashed potato and crab salad hot dog.

I could go on for days – we have 26 episodes coming at you so get ready for a LOT of daring and delicious street food!

What are the odds that we’ll be seeing a season 6? What other cities are on your food truck hit list?

Fingers crossed!  With new food trucks popping up everywhere, there will be lots of new places to visit.  The list is almost endless.

Thanks for talking with me James, and thanks for bringing Eat St. to Boston! I think I can speak for all Boston food truck fans when I say that we’re super psyched to see Boston getting in on the food truck love!

Thank YOU! We’re happy to be a part of the love-fest! Please tell everyone to support your local trucks. They are run by great folks who are passionate about bringing great food at great prices to the streets of Boston. Keep on Food Truckin’, Megan!
